Is Your Home Open House Ready?
Summer is officially here, and I don't know about you, but I wish it could last a little longer.
Summer also happens to be one of my favorite times to refresh and edit my home. Whether it's a single drawer, the kitchen, the garage, or the entire house, this season is the perfect opportunity to create spaces that feel calm, peaceful, and supportive of everyday life.
Every summer, I take time to thoughtfully declutter and edit my own home.
About ten years ago, before our move to Texas, we sold our first home. My girls were just 1 and 6 years old, and naturally, we had accumulated plenty of toys, clutter, and things we no longer needed. It was our wonderful realtor who encouraged me to see our home through a different lens and prepare it as though it were always ready for an open house.
That simple shift in mindset changed everything.
I edited and decluttered our home from top to bottom, and within two weeks, our house sold.
Ever since then, I've asked myself one question every summer:
“Is my home open house ready?”
Not because I'm planning to move, but because I want to live in a home that feels light, welcoming, and peaceful for the people who matter most.
If the answer is no, I know it's time for a refresh.
I invite you to ask yourself the same question.
Start small or go big; you get to decide. Remove what no longer supports your lifestyle, clear away visual clutter, recycle or throw away what no longer serves a purpose, and create space for what truly matters.
Don't let summer slip away from you and your home, because you deserve to live in a space that brings you peace and happiness.
