Hey friend!

The holiday season is officially here, and I can't believe we are already in the last month of 2020. Despite the global pandemic, I hope this year hasn’t been too tough on you and your loved ones.

For this month’s blog post, I have decided to make things a bit different. While I thought about blogging about holiday shopping and holiday decoration, I came to realize that it would be a much helpful post to write about fridge organization, because the fridge is often times forgotten, food gets lost and shoved in one of the most important appliances of your homes.

One of my most liked photos on Instagram is of my fridge, nicely organized in fridge bins with lots of produce ready to eat for the week.  Also, one of the most viewed Instagram Reel is my fridge organization showing all our foods for the week, so my fridge has gotten around the Instagram world and it’s now here on the blog.

Fridge organization is one of the easiest and most efficient ways to keep and maintain a healthy eating habit, how you might ask? Well, when you keep an organized fridge packed with only foods that nourish your body, bright colors, and are ready to eat, you are less likely to waste food and forget what is actually inside the fridge.

If you were to invest in organizing products this holiday season, I would highly recommend investing in good quality fridge bins that can also keep your foods fresh.

Normally, I go grocery shopping twice a week, fruits and vegetables are always on top of the list.  The key to using all the products you buy is to prepare it as if you were going to eat it now, clean all the produce that needs to be cleaned and cut.  Take everything out of plastic bags, here is where the bins come in handy.  Categorize all your fruits and vegetables and store them in a way that is accessible and ready to eat.  I love using 32oz Mason jars to store cut-up fruits and vegetables, they last longer and you actually eat it because it’s ready to eat.

As in any space of the home, the fridge also needs to be categorized in zones that make sense for you and your family.  Most importantly only buy foods that you will actually eat and are planning to eat during the week or in my case 2 weeks of grocery shopping.

In the freezer, I keep things simple, 2 large and 2 medium Multipurpose bins for each category, and take things out of boxes as much as I can. Boxes in the freezer are so bulky and take so much space, by having things out of the boxes so much more space is created. We don’t have many frozen foods and if we don’t have space to store, I just simply don’t buy it.

Taking things out of their bulky packaging creates so much more room and sometimes you don’t even need bins or products to create an organization system that is accessible, beautiful, and functional.  Here is our drink fridge with zero organizing product, just soft drinks out of their boxes and bags nicely organized.

Fridge Organization Products Must Haves:

  1. Vegetable storage containers to keep your fruits and vegetables fresh.

  2. Egg Bin Organizer because no one likes to open a box of cartons to find one egg, when you are able to see how many eggs you have it’s much easier to plan your meals.

  3. Fridge Turntables this one is on my list to get because jars and condiments are much accessible when they are in a turntable.

  4. Fridge Bins to create categories in the fridge and you can easily grab what is needed.

  5. Fridge Can Organizer can be used for more than just cans, we actually have yogurt and sometimes spreads in this bin.
